Damiano was one of the key stars at Meo Kalorama Festival in Lisbon, Portugal, which took place last weekend.
At the concert in Lisbon, which kicked off a little before two in the morning, Damiano David presented the album Funny Little Fears, released in May. Despite the late hour, fans welcomed one of the biggest names of the festival’s fourth edition with peak energy, and showed they knew every lyric by heart.
The Italian artist delivered a setlist that included almost all the hits from his debut album—Next Summer, for example, was left out. The concert began with The First Time, Voices, and Tango, inviting the audience into a whole new musical world.
“Sorry, I don’t speak any Portuguese, though I should,” the artist said. “The only thing I know is: ‘o mar de gente, o Sol diferente, o monte de betão. Não me provoca nada’,” he added, quoting the song Deslocado by NAPA. “They should’ve won Eurovision… after Italy, of course,” he noted with a smile.
Always high on adrenaline on stage and with many heartfelt “obrigados” along the way, the setlist continued with Mars and Zombie Lady—songs that the crowd sang in unison—before the artist launched into a cover of Nothing Breaks Like a Heart by Mark Ronson. “I never end a concert without taking off my shirt,” he said, swapping his white T-shirt for a jersey of the national football team and recreating Cristiano Ronaldo’s iconic “yes” celebration.
For the farewell, Damiano David chose a ballad, Solitude, leaving fans wanting more—despite the full-on energy and passion delivered by the artist and his band.
